First impressions
The new apartment is located about 30 minutes away from my old apartment. Traffic could be slow at certain times of the day but it is manageable.
The place looks nice. There's a basketball court in the middle of the clustered buildings, a "clubhouse" and a small kiddy playground. Fortunately my unit is located far at the back so the noise from that area won't be a problem I think. The buildings look nice (actually it was better than I expected knowing it was a "low cost" condomium housing project) and I could see that some of the units are already being occupied. The whole compound is fenced and security personnel are stationed at the entrance gate.
Parking is very limited but fortunately I was able to make arrangements early on so I got a nice spot right in front of my building. Others were not as lucky because the remaining parking slots were raffled off and not all were able to get one. Those who did may have acquired parking slots on the opposite end of the compound. I was very lucky I had a very resourceful real estate agent. She was the one who insisted that I make reservations for a parking space right away.
On the buildings, the paint are still bright and clean - it would just be a matter of time to see if the site management will keep it that way. There are 9 buildings all in all with building 9 being the newest (that's where my unit is). Each building have 3 so called clusters where each clusters have separate entrances and stairwells with 6 units per level (5 for the ground floor) for a total of 5 floors. The stairwell and the corridor looks a bit cramped but it is well lit because of transparent roofing at the top. Fire alarms and hose connections can be seen at each floor wich is always a good sign. I haven't been there at night so I don't know how well lit the corridors are when the sun goes down.
The units have solid steel security doors with double bolts. The interior is very bare except for the bathroom and utility sink which have white tiles, the floor and walls are just bare concrete. they do however provide bathroom fixtures and bathroom doors. It is only a 30 square meter space so space will definitely be a premium. Coming from a 3 bedroom apartment, this will definitely require a lot of thinking on how to utilize this space. Bringing over our old 6 seater dinning table is out of the question. I could probably fit in a small table for 4, a bed, an oven and a ref and that's it.
